Drew Rae is Deputy Convenor for Higher Degree by Research candidates and Program Director for the Graduate Certificate and Master of Safety Leadership in the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science at Griffith University. Drew is an expert on safety theory and safety engineering practice, and has professional experience managing safety for rail, defence, and aerospace projects.
His journal and conference articles provide critical evaluation of current safety practice, in particular examining the evidence for effectiveness of activities such as risk assessment and accident investigation.
Drew also supervises a number of PhD and Masters projects which take an ethnographic approach to the study of safety at work, and the work of safety practitioners.
