Higher degree research candidates may request to withdraw from candidature at any time by completing and submitting the online form via myGriffith, My Research, My Candidate Centre, two weeks prior to the intended withdrawal date. A notation of the date of withdrawal will be placed on the candidate’s academic transcript.
International candidates who believe they may be entitled to a refund of any fee must apply. Please refer to Griffith International Student Advisory Services or read the University's policy on Fees and Charges.
Domestic candidates (Australian/New Zealand citizens, permanent residents) who fail to advise formally that they have withdrawn, will continue to consume their entitlement (i.e., the funded time available for candidature) under the Commonwealth government Research Training Program.
Candidates applying to study in another higher degree research program at the same level at any institution within three years of a previous enrolment may find that their enrolment in that program will be taken into account when determining their research training program entitlement for the new program, i.e., their entitlement may be reduced. Candidates intending to enrol in another program should clarify their research training program status with the institution of enrolment.
International candidates are advised to inform Griffith International staff of their intention to withdraw so that action may be taken with respect to their visa and any refund of tuition fees for which they may be eligible.
To prevent an overpayment of stipend payments, scholarship holders should advise the Research Scholarships Officer of their intended withdrawal date by emailing email@example.com. This advice must be received no less than two weeks prior to pay day. If, for any reason, an overpayment of stipend occurs, a candidate will be required to repay the overpayment.
