Our senior programs

Go Health Go Griffith offers four university courses available to Year 11 and 12 students. Griffith Health, Biology, Exercise Science and Psychology GUESTS At-School courses engage Senior secondary students in lectures, workshops, laboratories and conference events. Students who pass the course will be eligible to receive a credit transfer.

PROGRAM BENEFITS

Digital Badges

Students who enrol will be eligible to be issued with a Griffith Credentials GUESTS Member Badge. All students who pass the course earn a Griffith Credentials GUESTS Achiever Badge.

Queensland Certificate of Education

Queensland students will receive a statement of their grades achieved on their Queensland Certificate of Education recorded as 2 units of Advanced Study.  This does not count towards ATAR calculation.

Adjusted Selection Rank

Two adjustments to their ATAR when applying for admission into Griffith undergraduate degree programs, as part of the Year 12 Subject Adjustment Scheme.

University Credit Transfer

10 credit points of free-choice credit transfer that will count towards the requirements of a range of health undergraduate degree programs.

Program admission criteria

If you would like to study a GUESTS At-School course your school will need to be participating in the program.

For admission into Year 11 (Stage 1), students must:

  • be ATAR or Diploma of the International Baccalaureate eligible.
  • achieve a minimum grade of C or Pass in all ATAR subjects and requirements.
  • have not failed any subjects (D grade).

For admission into Year 12 (Stage 2), students must meet all eligibility criteria as above, plus:

  • successfully pass the Year 11 end of year exam, and
  • fulfill all attendance requirements.

What is the Griffith Biology program?

Griffith Biology is a two-year part-time university course for Year 11 and 12 students which builds on participating schools’ Senior Biology subject. This course incorporates learning activities and experiences (e.g. lectures, laboratories and conference) which value add to the existing secondary school subject and enables students to experience an integrated university course whilst completing their senior studies. Prerequisite: Students must be studying QCAA English and Biology (or NSW/IB equivalent).

Attendance

Students will study the Griffith Biology course within the normal delivery of Biology classes at high school. In addition to this students will:

Year 11

  • Attend an all-day lab in Year 11 at Griffith University. In this lab students complete a lab manual and undertake a lab quiz; and
  • Sit an exam at the end of Year 11.

Year 12

  • Attend and present in an all-day Conference; and
  • Complete online quizzes; and
  • Are invited to attend an on-campus anatomy lab session.

What is the Griffith Exercise Science program?

Griffith Exercise Science is a two-year part-time university course for Year 11 and 12 students which builds on participating schools’ Senior Physical Education subject. This course incorporates learning activities and experiences (e.g. practical classes, conference and clinical laboratories) which value add to the existing secondary school subject and enables students to experience an integrated university course whilst completing their senior studies. Prerequisite: Students must be studying QCAA English and Physical Education (or NSW/IB equivalent).

Students will study the Griffith Exercise Science course within the normal delivery of Physical Education classes at high school. In addition to this students will:

Year 11

  • Attend an all-day lab in Year 11 at Griffith University. In this lab students complete a lab manual and undertake a lab quiz; and
  • Sit an additional assessment item at the end of Year 11.

Year 12

  • Attend and present in an all-day Conference; and
  • Complete online quizzes; and
  • Are invited to attend an on-campus anatomy lab session

What is the Griffith Health program?

Griffith Health is a two-year part-time university course for Year 11 and 12 students which builds on participating schools’ Senior Health subject. This course incorporates learning activities and experiences (e.g. lectures, workshop and conference) which value add to the existing secondary school subject and enables students to experience an integrated university course whilst completing their senior studies. Prerequisite: Students must be studying QCAA Authority English and Health Education (or NSW/IB equivalent).
