Bonnie Barber

Professor Barber completed her PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of Michigan. Following academic roles at Penn State University and University of Arizona in the US, she was appointed to the Chair in Psychology at Murdoch University. She moved to Griffith University in 2014, where she has held research and administrative leadership positions in the Health Group.

Professor Barber is an internationally recognised educational and developmental psychologist specialising in youth engagement, achievement, and wellbeing. She was CI of a 20-year longitudinal study funded by US federal agencies, as well as major US philanthropic foundations. Her expertise is reflected in an extensive body of highly cited academic scholarship as well as in the use of her work in policy development contexts. In 2016, the International Society for the Study of Behavioural Development named her in the group of inaugural ISSBD Fellows in recognition of outstanding contributions by a senior scholar to the field of lifespan human development.
