Timo is a social marketer and behavioural architect. He is an expert in building engaging marketing programs that help our people and planet. Timo uses a suite of behavioural theories, gamification and co-creation to build, engage and move users from awareness to action and ultimately advocacy. Timo’s research (80+ peer-reviewed publications) produces impact and drives change for the better in Australia and abroad.
Timo is the Deputy Director (Engagement) at Social Marketing @ Griffith. He is an engagement architect and expert in digital and social marketing who uses a suite of behavioural theories, tools and tactics to engage and move users from awareness to action and ultimately advocacy. Timo offers methodological expertise in co-creating solutions with users, market segmentation and gamification to build engaging program solutions. He works with a diverse range of industry partners from the health, environment, finance and technology sector and has attracted more than $2,3 million in research and consulting income. Timo has published his research in 75 refereed books, journal papers and conference papers. His work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Addictive Behaviors, and the Journal of Social Marketing.
His current projects
Blurred Minds: This is a cutting-edge alcohol education program that features five lessons and uses a suite of gamification resources to engage and deliver critical messages to Australian high-school students. In this project, he has developed world’s first Virtual Reality house party simulation which immerses students into a live-action adventure.
R.E.M.I (Robotic Empathy Machine Intelligence): This innovative program combines augmented reality with gamification to teach empathy to young people. In partnership with Activate Entertainment, Timo assesses the effectiveness of R.E.M.I by embedding a questionnaire into an augmented reality experience.
Timo leads a comprehensive longitudinal program evaluation for Alcohol and Drug Education Specialists Pty Ltd. (ADES). The evaluated program is a five-module online course designed by ADES with the aim to educate young adults about alcohol. All modules are delivered online across several Australian Universities. The evaluation aims are two-fold. First, assessing the effects of the program and second, identifying recommendations to improve the ADES online module.
