Guided by community-based social marketing (CBSM), David is undertaking a PhD with Social Marketing @ Griffith.
There is no doubt marketing is incredibly effective in influencing our consumption. He sees going forward social marketing as a discipline having a similar effect. However, rather than getting us to buy more products; social marketing is going to help overcome some key challenges we are currently facing.
His current project
Social marketing has been mainly applied to tackle problems in the developed world. Through his PhD will look at evaluating the efficacy of social marketing to overcome challenges in a poor community in South Africa.

I find doing a PhD in social marketing especially motivating. I think knowing your research is going to benefit society helps with that.
