Bo is a Research Fellow at Social Marketing @ Griffith. His work has already been published in refereed journals such as Journal of Business Research, Journal of Social Marketing, Australasian Marketing Journal.
Bo’s goal for the future is to further put Social Marketing on the map as a widely acknowledged, trustworthy strategy to deliver behaviour change for the better.
His current project
The main project Bo is currently working on is a program called ‘Let’s Go!’ which specifically aims to ‘increase active school travel’ amongst primary school aged children. Working together with Brisbane City Council and Redland City Council, the program aims to be piloted early 2018.
Most of the active interventions focused on encouraging physical activity with children are not that helpful. They are either not engaging or not sustainable. Therefore, ‘Let’s Go’ is designed as a 4-week program using gamification to make walking to school fun and rewarding. The program is developed to be sustainable and scalable, so that it can easily be implemented in other regions as well.
Leave it: ‘Leave It’ is a social marketing pilot study aiming to reduce koala and domestic dog clashes in a local city council in Australia. A co-design activity put focus on the dogs rather than koalas. The program should be fun and involve dog training resulted in DogFest. The festival featured seminars, obedience displays and free micro-chipping to launch the ‘Leave It’ program. Results show that dogs trained to ‘leave it’ are more likely to live in harmony with native Australian wildlife.
