Michael Barry is Professor of Employment Relations in the Griffith Business School. Michael was Foundation Head of the Department of Employment Relations and Human Resources at Griffith, from 2010-2016. Prior to his current position he was employed at Victoria University of Wellington. He has served in several University roles including being a member of the Griffith University Council (2005-2009) and the University Finance and Resources Committee. He has published on a diverse range of employment relations and human resource management topics, including areas such as employee voice, employer associations, international and comparative employment relations/HRM, and employment relations in the mining industry and in professional sports. His most recent edited book (with Skinner, J and Engleberg, T) is The Research Handbook of Employment Relations in Sport, Edward Elgar Press, Cheltenham, UK, 2016.
Michael is currently completing a major Australian and U.S employment relations study, funded by an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant, titled 'Taking the Pulse at Work: Employer-Employee Relations and Workplace Problems in Australia Compared to the United States'.
