Ruth McPhail

Professor Ruth McPhail

Head of Department

Ruth is a Professor of Human Resource Management. She is on the Board of ANZAM and is Standards Australia’s representative to ISO on the development of a standard for Diversity and Inclusion. Ruth is a nationally recognized educator receiving both an OLTC citation and University Teacher of the Year Award in 2015.

Ruth has wide experience in management consulting, human resource management and leadership.

Professor Ashlea Troth

Deputy Head of Department

Ashlea is a professor in organisational behaviour and the Deputy Head of ERHR. A scholar in workplace emotions, Ashlea’s research examines how employees’ workplace emotions, emotional intelligence and emotional regulation impacts on communication and performance outcomes in organisational contexts.

Ashlea has almost 20 years’ experience as a consultant, facilitator and researcher in this field.

Amie Shaw

Dr Amie Shaw

Director of Learning and Teaching

Amie Shaw is a Senior Lecturer and Discipline Leader in the Department. Her expertise includes a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate, online and face-to-face courses in the areas of work and employability, employment relations, applied HRM and organisational change. Her research is in the broad field of human resources management with recent publications in the areas of HRM and diversity and inclusion (First Peoples and Disability workers); Student learning, work readiness and employability. Amie holds a PhD from Griffith University and an undergraduate degree with honours from the University of Waikato, New Zealand.

Alannah Rafferty

Associate Professor Alannah Rafferty

Director of Research

Alannah's research is in the fields of organisational change (with a focus on change attitudes) and transformational leadership. Alannah's recent publications are in the areas of change readiness, change attitudes, and employees' subjective experiences of organisational change. Before joining Griffith University in 2017, Alannah was at the University of New South Wales for seven years. Alannah holds a PhD from Queensland University of Technology, a Master of Psychology from The University of Queensland, and a Bachelors (Hons) from Macquarie University.

Associate Professor Rebecca Loudoun

Rebecca's research is in the broad field of work health and safety where she considers how organisational policies and practices intersect with the quality of employees’ working experiences and non-work lives. Rebecca has more than two decades experience researching and teaching in the area of work health and safety, including as lead researcher on more than 10 funded research projects in the last 10 years.
