Increase your job prospects with Honours

If you have a GPA of 5.0 or above, you may wish to consider adding Honours to your degree to help you reach your full potential.

The one year program (or part-time equivalent)  requires each Honours student to work individually with a supervisor on a research project in addition to completing 40CP of coursework.

Study Honours in international business or Asian studies

Why study Honours?

As an Honours graduate, you will have a competitive edge, as you will be equipped with practical skills, experience and attributes that employers value, as well as highly developed research capabilities. Your skills will be valuable in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Honours is recognised as a prestigious qualification that further develops research, writing and organisational skills. It also demonstrates your ability to undertake high-level study. Adding Honours to your degree will:

  • Increase your prospects in the job market
  • give you the opportunity to potentially receive a research scholarship
  • allow you to gain direct entry into our PhD program

How do I find a supervisor?

If you are considering Honours the staff page will help you find the right people to talk to, about your chosen study area. Discuss your ideas for a project with a potential supervisor, so they can advise you, offer topic suggestions, or help you formulate a research question.

Alternately you may contact Dr Katrina Radford, BSI Honours Coordinator to help put you in touch with a suitable supervisor.

What topics can I study?

Your undergraduate studies have provided you with a broad range of skills in various subject areas. Your Honours study will enable you to develop your knowledge and skills as an independent researcher under the supervision of a member of staff with expertise in your chosen area. Your dissertation topic will be decided in consultation with academic staff members and will focus on a topic or theme related to the stream of study you choose, making it a great way to investigate a subject area of interest in greater detail.

Whether you have a particular subject in mind, or would like to discuss your options further, feel free to contact Dr Katrina Radford, BSI Honours Coordinator to ask for assistance.
