Superannuation and Tax: How does it all work?
To encourage us to save for our retirement the government has set-up the superannuation system, which can have generous tax concessions. Also, for many employees their bosses will have to contribute the superannuation guarantee of 9.5% on their behalf. However, many Australians can struggle to understand exactly how their superannuation is taxed, and what it means for them.
This seminar will look at exactly how is superannuation is taxed, in terms of the contributions made to superannuation, the earnings of superannuation, as well as what happens when money is finally paid out from the super fund. The topics will include what happens if you want to put more money into super, what extra incentives are provided by the government, what are the limits how much can be put into super, and what to do if your employer is not providing you the 9.5% guarantee super.
This seminar will be conducted by the tax professionals and student tax advisers at the Griffith Tax Clinic. The Griffith Tax Clinic is a friendly, student-run clinic that provides free tax advice to individuals and small businesses who currently do not have a registered tax agent.
