Athena SWAN

As an Athena SWAN member, Griffith is addressing the equity issues that Women in STEMM face with an evidence based approach.

In December 2018, we were recognised for our commitment to addressing gender inequality in STEMM, by being among the first Australian institutions to receive an Athena SWAN Bronze Institutional Award.

What is Athena SWAN?

The Athena SWAN Charter is an evaluation and accreditation program that works towards enhancing gender equity in STEMM. The Charter recognises excellence in employment practices that advance and promote the careers of women and gender minorities in STEMM subjects through Bronze, Silver and Gold Award. In Australia only the Bronze Award is currently available.

Athena SWAN at Griffith

As an Athena SWAN Bronze Award winner, we have rigorously examined our gender equity data in STEMM fields and identified key areas for improvement and action. This analysis has led to a commitment from staff and senior leadership to an ambitious action plan that seeks to eliminate gender bias and to further develop an inclusive staff culture.

Athena SWAN Implementation Subcommittee

The Athena SWAN Implementation Subcommittee is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the four-year Athena SWAN Action Plan and communication of related initiatives.
