Humpback Whale Filming in Tonga
The Southern Ocean Persistent Organic Pollutants Program recently participated in the IMAX “humpback whale” filming production by MacGillivray Freeman Films in V’avau, Tonga. Dr. Susan Bengtson Nash was one of three scientists to share their research on Southern hemisphere populations of humpback whales. The production will provide a rare and powerful platform for communicating the insiduous nature of chemical contamination and the threats faced by even remote Antarctic ecosystem. The production is due for release in 2015.
