Careers for ARI graduates
"Last December I was awarded my PhD by the Australian Rivers Institute. Now, just a few emails, 1 skpe interview and 5 months later, I find myself working as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Germany, conducting research on the North Sea!
My PhD research focused on denitrification in Australian riparian soils - now I am working on denitrification in sediments of the oceans and rivers of Europe! The shift from soil to ocean has been an interesting and challenging change in the focus of my research. It has abated any worries that I had about being pigeon-holed by my previous research and has made me realise that my research experience with ARI really can take me anywhere!
Oh and luckily I have discovered that I don’t get sea sick!"
