Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television, Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design

Twin brothers Peter and Michael Spierig graduated from Griffith’s Queensland College of Art in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television and a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design respectively.

In early 2000, they wrote and directed their first feature film, Undead.

Self-funded and made locally, the zombie film quickly gained a cult-following and screened at 17 major international film festivals.

After its release in the United States and Canada, Lionsgate developed a close relationship with Peter and Michael and backed their second production, Daybreakers.

Filmed in Queensland, the film has an international cast including Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill, and was released worldwide in January 2010.

To date, it has generated more than $50 million dollars at the international box office and won Best Visual Effects at the Australian Film Institute Awards.

In 2014, they cemented their position as an unstoppable cinematic talent with their latest film release, Predestination.

Alongside fellow alumnus and producer Tim McGahan, they first unveiled their time-travelling noir thriller to audiences at South by Southwest in Texas.

Starring Ethan Hawke, Noah Taylor and Sarah Snook, the film is based on science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein’s short story, All You Zombies.
