Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice
Lisa Mair, a criminology alumnus, is fulfilling her dream of changing lives around the world.
As a criminal analyst, her role involves the systematic analysis of trends in human trafficking. The unit she is working for is not only limited to case work, but also focuses on raising public awareness on the broader issues related to human trafficking.
Lisa participated in the Griffith Exchange program in Bergen, Norway. During her exchange she became interested in social justice and Norway's view towards human trafficking and victim support.
After completing a degree in criminology and criminal justice at Griffith, she undertook her masters in human rights at the University of Oslo.
Soon after, she was offered a position working as a project leader within the Bergen City Council, offering security assistance for victims of forced marriage.
While working in this role, she was headhunted by the Hordaland Police in Bergen and offered a permanent job working as an advisor in the organised crime unit for human trafficking.
“As an advisor in human trafficking, I have been fortunate enough to meet and collaborate with a number of expert groups specialising in transnational crime.
“Through this role, I have had the opportunity to work with cases worldwide and have gained valuable knowledge that I will carry with me for a lifetime.
“I credit the opportunities I have received to the valuable skills and education I gained from my studies at Griffith.”
