A picture of success
Bachelor of Fine Arts
Internationally-renowned artist and Griffith graduate Joel Rea has been compared to the Renaissance masters for his highly-detailed photo-realist style of painting.
Joel exhibits all over the world and in 2015 had his first solo international exhibition at the prestigious Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York, responsible for launching the careers of some of modern art’s biggest names.
He paints with a fine-haired brush and can spend as long as 650 hours on a single piece, and says he owes his start to the Queensland College of Art, describing his Griffith experience as “challenging, experimental and personally redeeming”.
“Studying at QCA placed me with mentors, such as artist and gallery owner Brett Lethridge, which helped to guide me directly onto the path I am on today.”
