Master of Urban and Environmental Planning
Griffith planning graduate Jake Anson is using his degree to keep our communities healthy and active.
As an Infrastructure and Planning Manager at AFL Queensland, Jake currently works with a range of sporting stakeholders to plan the future of Metricon Stadium and the Carrara precinct after the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games conclude.
He says his position is both challenging and highly rewarding.
“Taking a project from concept phase through to building and then completion of that project gives me a huge sense of satisfaction and achievement,” he says.
“One of the great things about my role is that every day is different—I work across Queensland and northern New South Wales, with government planners, politicians and local community sporting groups to ensure our sporting facilities are the best that they can be.
“A large part of what I do is getting kids out and active, living health lifestyles.
“We design facilities so that parents and children have adequate green space to play football, have adequate rooms to change and to get good coaching resources.”
