Design for change

Bachelor of Digital Media

Passion to create positive change led Alejandra Ramirez Vidal to spend three months volunteering in Kenya after graduating from a Bachelor of Digital Media, focusing on graphic design, from Griffith University.

Upon her return, she co-founded Maverik Design Studio with fellow graduate Anita Kuiper.

“We design for change,” Alejandra said.

“All our products and services are created with the goal to raise funds for those in need.

“Through the use of our multidisciplinary design skills, we focus on the production and promotion of fair-trade products by bridging the gap between item and maker. We believe that handmade goods have a certain uniqueness and can’t be replicated with mass produced goods”.

The pair’s work practice is both morally and ethically sound, allowing them to have a positive impact on the wider community.
