Bachelor of Business (Sports Management and Marketing)
For Bachelor of Business graduate Andrew Stone, it's not only who he knows, but what he knows that is accelerating his career to the heady heights of showbiz.
The Gold Coast native regularly mixes it with names like Lady Gaga and Guns 'n' Roses in the challenging world of event management.
Andrew is the managing director for the Australasian operations of global service provider EPS, based in Melbourne. He quickly points to his Griffith business degree, with a double major in sport management and marketing as the basis for his success.
“Griffith was the first place I learnt the power of knowledge and how to apply it,” he says.
Andrew decided to study business because “it’s innovative, it’s creative and it’s constantly trying to think outside the square - you’re always evolving in business”.
By combining sport management with marketing in his degree, he developed the unique skill set needed for a career that has whizzed from the professional golf circuit to international motorsport and on to rock 'n' roll.
“When you’re working as part of a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide, there’s a lot to consider. But having those fundamentals means you can call upon your core skills and be confident knowing hand-to-heart that you’re making the best decisions you can.”
