Maria Aristodemou is a Senior Lecturer at the Birkbeck School of Law, University of London. She currently teaches in the areas of jurisprudence and law and literature and her research examines cultural texts as a form of law-making. Prior to joining the Birkbeck School of Law, Maria was at Bristol University and Buckingham University. She received her LLB at Bristol University, graduating with First Class Honours. She is the first recipient to have been awarded this honour in Bristol’s 150 year history. She went on to complete a Master of Laws in Public International Law at Cambridge University, also receiving First Class Honours.
Maria is on the Editorial Board of Law and Critique, Law and Literature, International Journal of Law in Context and the Australian Feminist Legal Studies Journal. She has published a book, Law & Literature: Journeys from Her to Eternity (Oxford University Press, 2000) and many book chapters and articles. Maria is currently working on a monograph on Law & Psychoanalysis.
