Financial Planning Research Journal aims to publish original, scholarly peer reviewed articles from a wide variety of personal finance and investment disciplines including economics, finance, management, accounting, marketing and law that impinges on personal finance and investments. FPRJ is published by the Department of Accounting Finance and Economics, Griffith Business School, Griffith University, Australia and Financial Planning Association of Australia.
The context of personal finance and investments for Australia is different from the rest of the developed economies because of the presence of mandatory superannuation. A large managed funds pool and a strong social security system. Because of these factors international journals in the area of personal finance and/or investments may not suit an Australian audience. This highlights the need for an academic platform for discourse on the issues of individual’s personal financial planning and wealth management. Currently there are no journals that fit into this niche providing a forum for dissemination of research in the specific area of personal finance and investments in the Australian context.
Additionally with the changes in financial planning industry and the notion of professionalism gaining traction within the context of personal finance there has been growing interest in the academic community for research in this area. The FPRJ will provide a forum for debate and discussion of these matters in Australia.
