You will need to provide a research proposal with your application for MPhil studies, and may also like to supply this to potential supervisors. As a general guide, your proposal should be several pages in length and commence with a background overview indicating the context of your intended research. This should be followed by a brief literature review clearly indicating how the intended research will address gaps within the literature, and the significance of the topic to be undertaken.You should clearly identify the contributions your intended research will make to the academic discipline, and may also provide some potential implications for practice. Preliminary research questions and / or hypotheses might also be included. The proposal should include the proposed research design and a reference list.
