Encouraging debate, promoting culture and understanding society
Launched in 2005 by the Griffith Asia Institute and the Queensland Art Gallery’s Australian Centre of Asia Pacific Art, the Perspectives:Asia series is a program of public seminars designed to explore issues of contemporary culture, politics and society in our region, while also fostering public discussion of Australia’s relations with Asia.
Since its inception, the seminar series has hosted a diverse range of remarkable speakers on various topics that look at Australia’s relationship with its neighbours.
Covering all disciplines, the series has used topics from sport, cooking, fashion, art and politics to launch debate about the interrelationships of countries in the region, and promote cultural understanding and awareness.
