Are you planning to audition for a tertiary Musical Theatre course? Find out what it takes to audition successfully at one of our Musical Theatre Audition Workshops.

The workshops are open to applicants in years 11 and above who want to develop auditioning skills in Musical Theatre.

Successful participants will work in detail with our expert musical theatre staff in intensive small-group sessions and learn the essentials of auditioning processes, techniques, etiquette, and material selection. They will also learn a short dance routine; take part in mock auditions; work on prepared individual singing and acting repertoire and hear from performance professionals and current students about their own audition experiences, both within the QAEMT Bachelor of Musical Theatre program and the industry itself.

The QAEMT Musical Theatre Audition Workshops, held in our studios at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) are a fundamental experience for those preparing for a career in musical theatre.

Due to demand, this workshop is now delivered twice over the Queensland winter school holidays and all applications must be made via submission of a recorded film audition.

This can be a simple video recording, taken on your phone, and uploaded to YouTube. You will need to enclose your unlisted YouTube link on your application form.

  • A 2-minute cut of a song (must be from the musical theatre canon) that showcases both your singing and acting skills
  • A Jazz dance, not exceeding 2 minutes
  • Combine your filmed elements into one finished film
  • Upload your film as an unlisted YouTube or Vimeo
  • Copy and paste your URL in the box provided on the application form

All applications must be received by COB Monday 27 May

Monday 27 May - Audition application cutoff, 5pm

Monday 3 June - Offers made to successful applicants

Monday 17 June - Workshop payment of $540 due for successful applicants

Can I choose which week I attend?

Yes, you may select your preferred week on the audition application form. We will do our best to take into consideration your first preference when making an offer, however we cannot guarantee this if demand for entry is high.

I left school a few years ago, can I apply for the workshop?

Yes, the Musical Theatre Audition Workshop is open to applicants in grades 11, 12 and above.

I am in grade 10, can I apply?

No, you must be in grade 11 or above to apply.

I am not available to attend for the full week, is that ok?

We don't recommend you miss any of the workshop, however, we understand that illness or other special events might interfere. Please note that if you are absent, this may affect your evaluation and feedback at the mock auditions. There are no refunds for any days or part thereof which you may miss.
