At the Griffith Film School, we’re preparing the next generation of filmmakers, animators and game designers for creative and exciting careers within the international business of film, television and digital screen media production.

Degrees include:

Animation: cover every aspect of animated filmmaking. Develop your own vision as an artist and animator, studying concept development, storyboarding, 2D and 3D character animation, editing, graphic processes, sound recording, visual effects, post-production, marketing and distribution.

Film and Screen Media Production: develop the practical skills and knowledge essential to working successfully in the media industry. Graduate with the skills, show reel and contacts to realise your screen media dreams.

Games Design: whether your interests are commercial game development for Oculus, Playstation, Xbox, smart phones or home computer platforms, you’ll learn the fundamentals of game design, before developing a focus of specialisation.

Selection for admission to an undergraduate degree is made on the basis of academic merit.

Selection for admission is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the places available. The minimum requirement for eligibility for admission is completion of Year 12 of secondary school or equivalent academic achievement.

Prerequisites for admission may be specified in terms of levels of achievement in particular Year 12 subjects. Prerequisite conditions may be satisfied by other study or experience which is considered to be equivalent to the Year 12 prerequisites. For admission into the Master of Screen Production a related Bachelor degree or higher, portfolio of professional work and relevant work experience is required.

The Griffith Film School offers a range of high school programs at our South Bank campus. Arrange a personalised campus tour, attend one of our workshops, or come along to an Experience Day.

We understand that this is an uncertain time for many, so for Trimester 2, 2020, you will be able to start your study from home. When COVID restrictions are lifted, we will continue to offer you the flexibility to study on-campus, online, or a combination of both.

The Griffith Film School offers a Master of Screen Production. In the Masters, you will undertake practical work, integrated with screenings and discussions that will place your learning in a craft and creative context. The degree includes a strong collaborative component, which will help you develop a sound understanding of how your specialist role fits into the production process. You will learn through a problem-based curriculum, active learning in small groups and practical work placements that give you an opportunity to combine theory and practice.

As a graduate, you will be equipped to begin practice in a wide range of film production settings. You will develop research skills that will help you respond effectively to the changing nature of the industry.
