Professor Rob Ellis works with the AEL Executive on integrated learning and teaching leadership across the AEL portfolio. Rob’s responsibilities stretch across the schools and colleges of Humanities and Social Sciences, Education and Professional Studies, Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Film, the Conservatorium and the College of Art. These responsibilities include managing the quality and innovation lifecycle of programs and courses across the group, staff development for learning and teaching and the quality of the student experience.
To inform his academic practice, Rob researches the experiences of university students and teachers, physical and virtual learning environments and how changes in these shape education quality and innovation in universities and the higher education sector. He regularly publishes in quality education journals and has a well-cited monograph on the Student experience of e-learning in higher education published by Routledge and another published in 2019 on the Education ecology of Universities with SRHE/Routledge. Rob is series co-editor for Understanding learning and teaching practice and co-editor for the Higher Education journal published in the Netherlands by Springer.
