TAFE Admission Scheme

Graduates of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Advanced Diploma or Diploma completed at an Australian TAFE Institute are allocated special admission ranks as outlined in the TAFE Admission Scheme below.

The TAFE Admission Scheme guarantees direct entry to applicants into the next available intake for their eligible program in which places are available. Applicants are required to meet all program pre-requisite admission requirements. Some exclusions apply and these degrees are listed in the following document.

Competency-based assessment

For applicants who have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from an Australian TAFE Institute and their assessment is competency-based the schedule below will apply. Please note that applicants whose assessment is competency-based may upgrade their rank by sitting the Special Tertiary Admissions Test . You do not have to be 21 years of age for the STAT result to apply.

Graded assessment

For applicants who have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma from an Australian TAFE Institute and their assessment is graded, the schedule below will apply. Please note that applicants whose assessment is Graded are unable to upgrade their rank by sitting the STAT.
