Professor Maxime Aubert is a world-renowned archaeologist and geochemist. The influential scientific journal Science has twice ranked his research as one of the top 10 most outstanding scientific breakthroughs of the year (2014 and 2020). He is a United States National Academy of Sciences Kavli Fellow and a National Geographic Explorer where his work has been named in the top-20 scientific discoveries of the decade (2010-2019). He joined Griffith in 2014 and is based at the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research (GCSCR) and the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science (HLSS), as well as the Australian Research Centre for Human Evolution (ARCHE).
