Eugene Wigner entertained the possibility that consciousness might be the active agent to collapse quantum superposition into the singular reality we experience. But at what point does superposition collapse? Wigner’s thought experiment, now known as Wigner’s friend, argued against ever increasing systems of superposition. He thought it was the first conscious observer who collapsed superposition.
