Make the most of your scholarship application
Our scholarship application process is simple but can take some time to complete. That’s because we ask for a range of information, so we can consider you for multiple scholarships from just the one application.
Scholarship application rounds open 1 July each year. So we can consider you for all scholarships you’re eligible for, please ensure you start, complete and submit an application annually. Once submitted, your application will remain current until 30 June.
You’ll also find our online application easier to work through if you know what you need to provide before you begin, which is why we've created the below checklist. It's full of useful info to help you think about what to include in your application.
So, get comfortable and get started on your application.
Checklist
Checklist
1. Gather required information
We use the information and documentation you provide in your application to assess you for all available scholarships. More information means you may be considered for more scholarships.
Browse our scholarships and read the 'how to apply' section for each scholarship listing to determine:
- if you are eligible to apply
- what to include in your application (this may include statements, referee reports or supporting documents)
- the application closing date. Give yourself plenty of time to gather the required information and submit your application.
.
2. Your details
Some parts of the scholarship application form are mandatory. Make sure you provide accurate information.
Personal details
You'll be asked to check/update your personal information, provide contact information, and your citizenship status.
Study details
Commencing/new students, you'll be asked to provide your:
- education history, both for completed high school and tertiary studies, including your previous education provider/s, and ATAR/OP/IB results
- admission details (how you applied to come to Griffith) - did you apply through QTAC/UAC with program preferences, via direct admission, or through OUA?
If applying through QTAC/UAC, you MUST include your QTAC/UAC reference number. We need this to be able to confirm your results/ranking (you can submit your application and update it later on, if you don't have your results/ranking at the time of submission).
Current students should login using the Griffith ID Single Sign-On. This will save you time as your current study details will pre-populate and update automatically during the application process.
- If you are commencing in your honours year or degree, there is a section to supply your honours project/thesis information, including supervisor name and dissertation topic
- There are several scholarships to support students relocating to attend University, so if this applies to you make sure you provide details of the suburbs you are relocating from (your home) and to (where you plan to study) in your application.
Achievements
This is where you'll outline:
- details of your high school leadership, school involvement, academic merit1i>
- community involvement
- sports participation (including elite athletes)
- referees' details.
Referees will be contacted via email, asking them to complete their report online. Make sure you've reached out to your referees before submitting your application to let them know a referee report request is coming. Your referees should be relevant to the scholarships you would like to be considered for. For example, if you would like to be considered for a sports scholarship, your coach could make a good referee.
Personal background
In this section, you'll provide information regarding:
- your income and expenditure - you only need to provide information about yourself, we don't need details about your parents or partner. Supporting documents can be uploaded later in the application.
- any scholarship/s you currently receive - list any you'll be paid while at university.
- your personal circumstances - challenges you've faced within areas such as home environment, personal illness, disability and/or educational disruption.
3. Statements
We recommend you complete both statements to maximise your chances of success.
Your Personal Statement (maximum 500 words) should address:
- Career goals and aims
- Community involvement
- Scholarship benefit.
Your Challenges Statement (maximum 250 words) should outline:
- What challenges you face that could impact your continued studies at Griffith
- What challenges you have overcome.
4. Supporting documents
We recommend you upload any of the following that are applicable to you:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- list of sporting achievements
- evidence of financial hardship, such as Centrelink statements
- Confirmation of Heritage
- supervisor agreements.
It could be the deciding factor that gets you a scholarship.
Please upload the following formats only: PDF, DOC/DOCX, JPG/JPEG, or XLS/XLSX. We cannot guarantee other formats will be accepted.
.
5. I'm ready to apply
You only need to complete just one application, even if you'd like to be considered for multiple scholarships. That means you need to create just one account, which you'll also use to track and update your application. Here's how to do that:
Future students—starting your Griffith degree
Create an account using a personal email address and password you'll remember. Handy hint: Don't use your school email, as you may lose access to it halfway through the scholarship application process. There's no need to create a new account when you receive your Griffith offer (and Griffith ID number), as we will know if you're a new student from the information you provide.
If you've been a GUESTS or Head Start program participant or Griffith College student previously
Former GUESTS program or Head Start participants and Griffith College students should create an account using a personal email address, so we can check your ATAR/OP/IB results and program preferences. Don't register with your Griffith ID (you'll be able to add this later).
Current or returning Griffith students*
Use the Log in button below then use the Griffith sNumber login link to create an application with your Griffith student ID (s-number). This enables the form to automatically populate with your current degree information.
* Excluding GUESTS or Head Start program students, who should register with a personal email.
Creating an account secures your application details and allows you to save your application and come back to update it later.
Once you have submitted an application, you can go back and:
- add referees
- add a student number (Griffith ID)
- update ATAR/OP/IB results
- add a QTAC/UAC/OUA reference number
- upload supporting documents
- change mobile phone details.
If you wish to make any changes to your application after you've submitted it, you will need to withdraw your application and reapply. Once you withdraw your application - if you decide to reapply - you will need to re-enter details into each section again. If you use the same email login as your previous application, your referee reports will carry forward to your new application.
We'll only consider your most recent application, even if you use a different email address for each one. Prior scholarship applications using other email addresses will be disregarded.
To maximise your chance of success, we strongly recommend you complete and submit a new scholarship application in July each year.
