Bachelor of Visual Media

The Bachelor of Visual Media allows students to take advantage of the huge growth in professional creative opportunities nationally and internationally. It enables students to broaden and improve employment prospects through cross-study and specialisation in the areas of digital design, 3D design, ePhotojournalism, fine art practice and graphic design.

The Bachelor of Visual Media has a three phase structure:

Phase One

60 credit points of core studies intended to encourage creative thinking and critical enquiry. Group and individual projects foster self-awareness and the formation of peer relationships. Students identify their strengths and interests and the indigenous core course recognises the Gold Coast QCA's commitment to the local Gold Coast Kombumerri people.

Phase Two

Students undertake a major disciplinary study. Half of the three year degree is dedicated to the specialisation studies.  This allows time for genuine depth of creative enquiry and individual scholarship to develop. Currently, five majors are offered: Three-Dimensional Design, Fine Art, Digital Design, ePhotojournalism and Graphic Design.

Phase Three

The remaining 60 credit points of the degree provide significant latitude in Elective choices or, alternatively, a second specialisation major.

Liveworm Gold Coast Creative Incubator

The creative incubator has been established at Liveworm Gold Coast to help nurture Bachelor of Visual Media Honours students' projects that display enterprise potential, as well as giving second and third-year students in the Digital Media and Graphic Design majors the opportunity to work in Liveworm Studio, a professional design studio under the guidance of a creative director.

Within the incuabator, students learn how to push creative boundaries, while establishing networks and making smart business decisions. Liveworm Gold Coast look for projects that offer marketable and measurable value to the community, innovation and employment potential for the student.
