George Petelin's interests range from art criticism to research methodology in the arts and the rise of contemporary Australian Indigenous art. He is President of the Association des Critiques d'Art, and has written for The Australian and The Courier-Mail. George co-curated 'Beyond the Mundane' Australia's first exhibition of contemporary art to travel to the National Gallery of China in Beijing and 'Transgenerations' at the Queensland Art Gallery.
His current research interest is in the effects of digital media and university culture on the discourse of visual art. His PhD thesis examined the economic and political role of the Sydney Biennale catalogues in shaping Australian art discourse.
