Course Outline
This intensive course will take students step-by-step through the entire silkscreen printing process, from building a screen, various exposure methods and finally printing techniques. Students will also learn about image preparation and how to do multiple colour prints on a variety of media, and leave the course with new-found skills and their own silkscreen.Students must be at least 17 years of age to enrol into this course.
Day One:
- Introduction to Materials and Methods
- Receive personal silkscreen to take home
- Screen Coating with emulsion
- Image preparation
- Exposing screens with sunlight
- Exposing screens with UV lightbox
- Exposing multiple screens for multiple colour prints
Day Two:
- Pre-Print preparation
- Screen printing to paper (single colour)
- Screen printing to fabric (single colour)
- Washout process
- Pre-Print multicolour preparation
- Screen printing to paper (3 colour)
- Screen printing to fabric (3 colour)
- Screen removal process
Day Three:
- Students to create prints on desired media using learnt techniques on desired media
Required Materials
Students are to supply their own:
- 1GB USB Memory Stick
- Notebook and pen
- Enclosed footwear
