Intermediate: Fine Art Practices

Course Outline

Intermediate: Fine Art Practices (Ideas and Images) is a studio based course which builds on the skills learnt in Introduction: Fine Art Practices. Including both drawing and visual communication, this program is based on projects which initiate students into a range of experimental and interpretive visual investigations.  Emphasis is placed on the comprehensive of skills as well as the development of concepts and various approaches to image making. For credit towards the Bachelor of Fine Art, the assessment pack must be completed.

Content

This course provides further intermediate studies in:

  • drawing
  • pictorial organization
  • colour theory
  • conceptual and aesthetic development

Material Requirements

Students will need to supply their own mark-making materials:

  • Charcoal
  • Stanley knife
  • Dog clips
  • Pencils
  • Graphite
  • Masking tape

Students will also need to bring to class a resource book, usually an A4 plain-paged (sketch) book for small drawings, notes, comments and collected information that is of interest.

Lani Weedon

Having studied at the Tasmanian School of Art and USQ Creative Arts, Lani has exhibited nationally and her work is held in both private and public collections. A sessional staff member at the Queensland College of Art for over 15 years, Lani specializes in teaching 2D areas, in particular drawing and printmaking. As an artist and arts educator, Lani is committed to developing stimulating and challenging learning environments in the visual arts.
