Flash: Character Animation

This is an introductory level course in creating and animating characters in Adobe Flash CS4 software. It deals with basic to advanced concepts in creating a character suitable for TV or web-style animation and introduces the participant to the basics of timing for character animation. This course is primarily aimed at participants with at least a basic operational understanding of Flash. At least some drawing ability will be an advantage.

Content

Participants create, from their own drawn concept design, a character in the Flash environment. Classes include character design, vector-line aesthetics, staging, character construction, animation process, Flash animation tools, and working with a sound track.

  • USB Memory Stick (256MB or greater)
  • sketch book
  • notebook and pen

Provider

John Eyley

Animator, animation director and illustrator John Eyley has a background in traditional animation. Experienced in television animation production and animation for multimedia, John has interests in animation and documentary film-making. He is also actively supporting the search for new production techniques for the local industry. John is a member of Queensland Animators.
