While studying Photography at the Queensland College of Art you will have access to a wide range of work-integrated learning opportunities specific to your major including the following places/projects:

Queensland Centre for Photography

QCP

The Queensland Centre for Photography (QCP) was founded by Queensland College of Art graduates, and provides professional opportunities and work-integrated learning experience for students. The QCP moved in 2009 to a state of the art, purpose-built gallery within walking distance from QCA, furthering the close ties between the two institutions. You can earn course credit by participating in work-integrated learning at the QCP, gaining skills in a wide range of areas such as curatorship, gallery installation, publishing and arts education. Two gallery spaces at the QCP are also dedicated exclusively to exhibiting work by QCA students, providing valuable exhibition
experience and wide exposure within a professional gallery setting.

Australian Photojournalist

APJ

Students with an interest in photojournalism or publication have the opportunity to gain editorial experience through their placement on the editorial board of either the Australian Photojournalist or the Argus Newspaper. The Australian Photojournalist and the Argus are publications that cast a critical eye across journalism, and attempt to challenge the notions and practices currently employed in this discipline. The Argus is an online publication consisting of student editors and overseen by ePhotojournalism staff in executive editor roles. The APJ is an annual printed journal, showcasing the work of the world's best photojournalists. Students are involved in the decision-making necessary to ensure the publication of the each edition.

LIVEimage

Liveimage

LIVEimage is the commercial element of the Queensland College of Art Photography Department, and runs a number of valuable work-integrated learning programs. The LIVEimage Photographic Agency is a service open to the general public, which provides an affordable and high-quality photographic service for clients. Students registered with the agency are offered paid freelance work that matches their interests and skill-sets, giving you a chance to gain real-world commercial photography experience and develop your portfolio. Students are able to gain course credit through work experience at LIVEimage's printing service, which produces professional-standard photographic prints for
students and the general public. Students learn large-format digital
printing, print-handling, colour management and other skills required to
produce digital prints on a commercial scale.
