You will explore the interrelationship of photography and other forms of visual communication, and develop the ability to recognise and produce meaningful visual statements.

Here are a few reasons to choose a Bachelor of Photography at Queensland College of Art.

Exhibitions

Studying photography at Queensland College of Art gives you access to a diverse and challenging creative community. You are supported in exhibiting your work both on and off campus during your degree, developing the skills and confidence required to exhibit your work professionally. Our final year graduating exhibition is a yearly landmark well-attended by industry professionals, providing networking opportunities and exposure for the students involved. All graduating students have their work included in a high quality publication, which serves as a useful resource for graduates embarking on the next stage of their career.

Travel

Regular international study tours are organised by the photography department, allowing you to travel and work on projects overseas. In recent years, such trips have included Prague, Egypt, Cambodia and China. Photo documentary students have also participated in immersive study trips to rural Australian towns, gaining real world experience producing work on assignment.

Career opportunities

For graduates of this degree program there are worldwide opportunities for employment in a range of fields. With a keen appreciation of the politics and philosophies underpinning the practice of photography, you will be capable of working at a professional level in the creative and rewarding areas of advertising, fine art or news, photojournalism and documentary photography.
