Programs and courses

Griffith offers four key photography programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Bachelor of Photography

The Bachelor of Photography promotes conceptual development and teaches practical skills relating to materials, processes, equipment and techniques involved in photographic practice.

The program presents specialised studies in practices, politics, philosophies and ethics in a choice of three majors:

  • Creative Advertising Photography (South Bank campus)
  • Photographic Art Practice (South Bank campus)
  • Photojournalism (South Bank campus)

Bachelor of Photography with Honours

The Bachelor of Photography with Honours is a full-time or part-time program designed to enable students who have demonstrated substantial ability at an undergraduate level, to develop their practical expertise and theoretical understanding to a more advanced level.

Bachelor of Visual Media (ePhotojournalism)

Graduates with a keen appreciation of the politics and philosophies underpinning the photographic discipline and a demonstrated eagerness to work innovatively in their chosen photographic specialisation - whether press or new media - will be capable of securing a rewarding career at a professional level anywhere in the world.

Master of Arts in Visual Arts

The Master of Arts in Visual Arts program consists of coursework activities which include individually designed projects. A feature of the program is the opportunity for students to include a substantial body of practical work, produced within their particular discipline, with relevance to their own interests.

Other programs

Other Griffith programs offer photography as a small part of the degree
