Wherever your creative passions lie, you'll develop them further at the Queensland College of Art.

This is the start of your career as a visual artist. Studio skills and research methods are developed, ideas challenged and experimentation encouraged. By integrating theory and practice and encouraging independent enquiry, you will develop an appreciation of the artist's role in contemporary society as well as become equipped for a career in a particular visual arts field.

Study at QCA's South Bank campus or at the Gold Coast campus and enjoy access to art galleries, exhibition spaces, studios and computer laboratories. While its facilities are highly advanced, the QCA is also one of Australia's oldest and most respected art and design colleges with over 125 years of history.Skateboard designs from Visual Communications Design student Christopher Castro

Professional recognition

We have a strong commitment to community partnerships and internationalisation. You will work with community organisations, business and government on a variety of projects throughout your program. The business community supports students through scholarships, travel prizes and exhibitions.

This support, and the assistance of Griffith International, help us provide a rich array of international experiences for you. Many students take up the chance to study in cities such as Los Angeles, Edinburgh or Alberta for a semester during their degree. These experiences are complemented by the strong international student enrolment at QCA, which enriches the everyday experience of students during their studies.

Career opportunities

You will be qualified for a career in your specialised study area or in combination with other areas. The visual arts sector is expanding exponentially and opportunities for involvement in the wider cultural sector are increasingly exciting. Our design graduates have an enviable record of career success as professional artists.
