Undergraduate (Domestic) students
From January 2009, the Commonwealth Government will phase out fee-paying domestic undergraduate places. Students currently enrolled in a full fee-paying undergraduate place will continue their enrolment on that basis from January 2009.
Eligible students (Australian citizens or holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas) are able to borrow money from the Commonwealth Government to pay the tuition fees for their tertiary studies through a scheme called FEE-HELP for which a 25% loan fee applies to undergraduate students.
A 25% loan fee applies to FEE-HELP loans taken out by undergraduate fee-paying students (there is no loan fee for postgraduate students or for students enrolled in an enabling program). This means that if you are an undergraduate student, and you borrow $10,000, you will owe the Commonwealth Government $12,500. The loan fee does not count towards the borrowing limit.
Students who have been admitted to Griffith University as International students and who have since been granted an Australian Permanent Residency / Humanitarian visa / Australian citizenship or New Zealand citizenship will be transferred from international fee paying places and may apply for a CSP or Domestic Fee Paying place.
Postgraduate (Domestic) students
The total cost of postgraduate coursework study for students at Griffith will depend on the program studied and the length of time taken to finish the degree.
All postgraduate coursework programs and courses are subject to tuition fees except if the student is awarded a Commonwealth supported place. Tuition fees for postgraduate coursework programs are subject to change and textbooks, personal study materials and some support services are additional costs.
The tuition fee is charged according to the approved tuition fee for the semester in which the student commences the program. This fee is charged throughout the student's enrolment in the program provided that the program is completed within three years (for domestic students only). In the fourth year, the tuition fee will be reset to the approved tuition fee applicable to the program in the current semester.
If a postgraduate student changes to a different program, they will be subject to the fees applicable to the new program for the semester they commence in that program.
The fee schedule sets out the tuition fees for undertaking a Griffith program.
Postgraduate Education Loan Scheme (PELS)
In 2005, the Postgraduate Education Loan Scheme (PELS) was replaced by FEE-HELP which is a loan under the Higher Education Loan Program and transitional arrangements are in place for pre-2005 students. For further information, please refer to the following brochure:
