HPC Asia 2001

Call for Posters

In response to many enquiries, HPC Asia 2001 will provide the opportunity for attendees to present posters. Posters are intended to convey plans, ideas and results not yet developed into a full paper, so works in progress and results from postgraduate research are especially encouraged.

Poster guidelines are shown below.

The posters will be placed in a special area for viewing during the conference. Presenters must be available at nominated times to discuss their posters. You cannot present more than one poster at HPC Asia 2001 although you can be the presenter of one poster and co-author of another.

All poster presenters must register for HPC Asia 2001 before a poster will be accepted.

Each poster submission must contain the following information: Title, Author/s, Affiliation and Abstract. Poster submissions received (complete with abstracts) before 6th August 2001 will be included in the HPC Asia 2001 CD-ROM Proceedings.

Please submit your poster proposal and any enquiries about posters by email to hpca-posters@mlaa.com.au

Poster guidelines

If you are unfamiliar with poster sessions, the following may be useful:

  • Suitable topics for posters are almost anything within the general scope of the conference which may not be sufficiently advanced, or major enough, to merit a formal paper presentation.
  • Be prepared to answer questions and discuss your material with interested delegates. We will be nominating specific times when you should be adjacent to your poster.
  • You may use a computer if you wish at that time but recognise your poster will also be on display throughout the conference and security is your responsibility. Mains power supply is not likely to be available nor will Internet connections.
  • An adjacent table can be provided if required.
  • Posters must be no greater than 90cm wide and 120cm high. You will be sharing a board 240cm wide with another poster presenter.
  • The panels provided as back drops will be velcro compatible. The organisers will provide the necessary velcro fixers.

Suggestions for effective poster presentations

  • An overall left to right presentation (rows), rather than a top-to-bottom (columns), facilitates smooth traffic flow past your poster.
  • All printing should be presented in at least 16 point font, preferably in bold and not all capitals.
  • The poster should be self-explanatory, so that you are free to answer questions and discuss the research with interested persons.
  • A printed summary of your poster (perhaps up to two A4 pages), or an associated paper, should be available for distribution to interested persons; we suggest you bring about 20 copies.
  • You should be prepared to take names and addresses for a subsequent mailing of information. Perhaps a sheet of paper on which people can provide their name, email address and work address would be useful, or you should be prepared to collect business cards.
  • Put your own contact information at the bottom, to allow others who are interested to contact you afterwards.
