Griffith University is committed to excellence in student-centred learning. To achieve this, the University has established policies and processes to effectively manage its learning and teaching activities and contribute towards excellent student learning outcomes. The focus of evaluation is on:
- the quality of programs and courses and teaching, and
- those factors in the University context that affect the quality of teaching and learning, such as University facilities, educational resources, campus climates, and student interaction with University administration.
National level
The Australian Graduate Survey is a national survey of all graduates of Australian universities. It includes either the Course Experience Questionnaire (for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs) or Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire (for postgraduate research graduates), and the Graduate Destination Survey.
University level
Important student surveys are the Student Evaluation of Courses and Student Evaluation of Teaching which improve the learning experience for our students, and give students a mechanism to provide input to enhance the quality of learning and teaching. These evaluations give program convenors valuable information about the outcomes compared with the intention of courses, and they are part of the performance management and promotion processes for academic staff.
Coordination and management
Student surveys are coordinated and managed by the Planning, Budgeting and Reporting branch of Finance and Business Services. They are responsible for:
- Survey coordination (schedule of surveys, survey processes, reporting back to students)
- Survey management (conduct of survey, response rate, data submission)
