Support for students with disabilities
At Griffith, we are always seeking ways to remove barriers to the participation of people with disabilities in higher education and improve access to the learning environment.
We have a number of plans and policies that reflect this commitment to not only meet our obligations under legislation such as the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Disability Standards for Education but also to genuinely improve the access, participation, retention and success of students with disabilities in higher education.
In 2007, our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Student Support Program was awarded a Carrick Citation and a Carrick Award for Programs that Enhance Learning for Services Supporting Student Learning.
Our disabilities service officers are happy to speak with people with disabilities who are

- current students
- thinking about resuming their studies after a break
- pondering their next step, and how to get there, after graduation
- studying in any mode - on campus, externally, or through Open Universities Australia
- international students who are thinking about studying in Australia
