Drug discovery

Griffith University is a leader in drug discovery in Australia, with a rapidly developing international reputation. Backed by multi-million dollar investments from government and industry, the University’s top chemists, biologists and health-care scientists are tackling cross-disciplinary solutions to a wide range of acute, chronic and infectious diseases. Two of Griffith’s largest research centres lead the work, with the support of other units in the science, technology, health and medical faculties.

Griffith University’s Strategic Research Program in Drug Discovery is jointly led by Professor Ron Quinn and Professor Mark von Itzstein. Combining and expanding the resources and capabilities of Griffith’s two leading pharmaceutical Institutes allows the Drug Discovery Program to operate at the forefront of the search for new therapies for diseases including cancer, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, arthritis and multiple sclerosis and to expand its research into cures for some of the most destructive infectious diseases in the world, including malaria, influenza and tuberculosis.
