Politics and the Media (2006PPP)

This course is broadly concerned with a range of contemporary issues about the political importance of the media in societies such as Australia. The course will introduce you to fundamental concepts in relation to political reporting, the nature of news production, media representations and media audiences. This will promote an understanding of the influence of the media and its effects upon political behaviour, public opinion and public policies. Assessment includes a tutorial paper and participation, an essay, and a final examination.
