Internationalisation

Profiling and strengthening the breadth of international collaboration across our program and centres is a fundamental role of the SRP Social Change and Wellbeing. In 2008, our research expertise represented the only social science research to be profiled to a high level visiting delegation from Germany's premier research funding agency "Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft", and was highlighted in a briefing to Prime Minister Rudd on the extent of Australian-European Research Collaboration.

Also in 2008, SRP Director Professor Ross Homel, undertook a visit to Europe to discuss collaboration with some of the UK's leading research institutes operating in the same fields as SRP Social Change and Wellbeing and met with major UK social policy research agency the Joseph Rowntree Foundation to explore collaboration opportunities.  He also briefed the European Commission's leading policy and research agencies - the Bureau of European Policy Advisers and the European Commission Research, Training and Development section in a number of high profile meetings arranged by the Ambassador of the European Commission Delegation to Australia and New Zealand to highlight the strength and breadth of our research.
