Class visits to Griffith University (Griffith University Lab Experience)
Classes of secondary students can attend university for the day and utilise physical and intellectual resources from Griffith University to perform scientific investigations that would be unachievable in their high school settings. We currently provide analytical water analysis and food analysis procedures which can both be used to extend EEI requirements.
Submit a booking form to be eligible to attend these lab experience days. (Availability is determined by the undergraduate science lab timetable)
Scientist for a day
Selected students attend university and shadow real science researchers/ academics for a day to gain an insight into the day to day life of a real scientist.
In school science workshops
Workshops are taken out to schools to support teachers in the delivery of scientific concepts or to act as a dynamic part of school activity days/camps. Workshops are based on the after-school workshops or tailored to meet specific teacher/school needs. Workshops are initially being delivered by the 'Science on the Go!' team with a vision of utilising pre-service primary and high school science teachers in the future.
After school science clubs
After-school workshops are totally hands on and encourage students to look at the world with an enquiring mind. Workshops are highly engaging, encourage maximum participation and include science demonstrations that the students can take home. Workshops are attended by a maximum of 15 students and are initially being delivered by the 'Science on the Go!' team with a vision of utilising Griffith University pre-service teachers in the future.
