Bachelor of Science
The Bachelor of Science is a high-quality program with maximum flexibility enabling a well-rounded foundation in several major areas of study to be combined to cater to the needs of individual students. In addition to the single physics major, students studying Physics can complete a double major by combining it with majors depending on their particular fields of interest, such as:
- chemistry
- biochemistry and molecular biology
- biological sciences
- microbiology
- physical mathematics
- science, technology and society
Bachelor of Science with Honours
This degree extends the well-rounded foundation of the Bachelor of Science program with an additional Honours year of advanced study. The Honours year is divided evenly into advanced course work and a research based project supervised by members of the academic staff. Students gain entry into the Honours year based on their level of achievement in their Bachelor degree.
Bachelor of Science (Advanced with Honours)
This program is similiar to the four-year Bachelor of Science (Honours) program except that it includes additional advanced study in each of the four years. Students select one course per semester for advanced study and, under the guidance of an academic staff member, undertake further work in that area. The title of the degree highlights that you are trained as a highly qualified physicist. Students may leave the program after completing three years of study without completing the Honours year for the award of a
BSc (Advanced) degree.
Bachelor of Science with Honours (Accelerated)
The first degree of its kind in Australia, the Bachelor of Science (Accelerated with Honours) allows highly motivated students to complete an Honours degree in three years (instead of four). This program gives students a head start on their career path in Physics.
Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Information Technology
Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Information Technology is a combined four-year degree that introduces students to core subjects in Science and Information Technology. Students may major in Physics as their Science major for this degree.
Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science
The Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science is a combined five-year degree program that gives students in-depth understanding of current knowledge in both a specialised area of engineering and a choice of scientific disciplines. Students choose either Electronic and Computer Engineering or Environmental Engineering for their engineering speciality and may major in Physics as their Science major for this degree.
Bachelor of Science/Graduate Diploma of Education - Secondary
After completing a Bachelor of Science program (as above), students have the opportunity to take an additional year of study in the Graduate Diploma of Education program. The combination of both programs leads to qualification as a professional secondary school science teacher.
Bachelor of Photonics and Nanoscience
This program is aimed at students who are specifically interested in the science behind new technologies such a optical communication and smart materials, and want to specialize in the burgeoning areas of photonics and nanoscience. This is a four year full-time program, with an embedded Honours year of advanced study.
