Partnerships and collaboration

Neuron grown in vitro from an olfactory stem cell

Clinical Focus

Central to our research is a focus on translational research. The goal is to develop stem cell technologies for diagnosis and treatment of human disease. Essential to our research are our clinical collaborations with neurologists, surgeons, psychiatrists and physicians. We work on human tissues from human patients and are indebted to the spirit of inquiry and altruistic nature of our participating volunteers.

Research Funding

We were established through a grant from the Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing. Our research is supported by the National Health and Medical Council of Australia, the Australian Research Council, the Smart State Development Fund of the Queensland Government, the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research, the NSW Government fund for research on spinal cord injury, the Princess Alexandra Research Foundation, the International Spinal Research Trust, Parkinson’s Queensland, Parkinson’s NSW, the Paraplegic Benefit Fund of Queensland, and donations from individuals.
